Ultrimax Launches a New Colormax® Paint Colour Matching Service for Unrivalled Colour Accuracy

At Ultrimax, we know that precision colour-matching is crucial for our customers. Whether refinishing a product or spraying bespoke colour kitchen units, colour accuracy matters. That's why we've updated our colour-matching system with the latest Colormax® technology and made a few other changes to give our customers the perfect colour every time.

The advantages of Colormax® paint colour matching technology

Our new colour-matching system brings tinting laboratory-level accuracy to our customers but at a much lower cost.

How does it work?

It couldn't be a simpler process for our customers.

  1. Post us a small sample of substrate, call our office or order online and insert the colour name and number you require when order your paint colour.
  2. Our paint technician scans the colour from your sample with our state of the art spectrometer which goes straight into our formulation software.
  3. We perform a drawdown of the paint and adjust the tint if necessary.
  4. We ensure that the matching is to a tolerance of Delta E.0.3 or below - this means it will be a very close to perfect match.
  5. We then store the drawdown colour card and file it on our database, this allows us to do future colour matches.

Consistent colour every time for repeat account customers

Say goodbye to those 'off' colour matches when you repeat an order. Our new system allows us to draw down and spray out a sample from the original colour match so we can keep a physical record for you. The next time you order, we'll pull out the spray-off paint card and check the new colour order against the original batch.

We can do the same for retail customers and branded colours too. So, for example, if a joiner asks us for a regular supply of Little Greene Slaked Lime Medium, we can scan the colour into the system and then draw down every month or so to show that we are matching that colour as closely as possible.

White colour base matching for near-perfect batch-to-batch rates

In addition to upgrading our system to tinting lab quality technology, we have switched from using a white base to a clear base for colour matching.

Why?

Most colour-matching services use a white base because adding colourant to an already white base is cheaper than using a clear base. However, white bases vary in shade and tone from batch to batch, which is bad news for repeat orders.

So, we now begin with a clear base to which we add colour droplets, including white. This process is more costly than using a white base, but the colour match is far more accurate and consistent between batches.
