Two Pack Zinc Coating

This is a two-pack polyamide cured zinc-rich epoxy paint coating. It is a high solids, high zinc dust containing product. Jotun Barrier 80 also conforms to the requirements of SSPC paint 20, level 2 and ISO 12944-5. It provides very good corrosion protection as part of a complete coating system. It is to be used as primer in atmospheric conditions.

Typical Uses for Jotun Barrier 80

Jotun Barrier 80 is suitable for carbon steel, repair of inorganic zinc silicate coating and damaged galvanised steel substrates. This product complies with ASTM D520 type II zinc dust.

Desinged for structural steel and piping to be exposed to highly corrosive environments, C5I or C5M (ISO 12944-2) it is a brilliant product to use for the protection of substrates in harsh environments. Recommended for offshore environments, refineries, power plants, bridges, buildings, mining equipment and general structural steel. Specially designed as a primer in coating systems where durability is required.

Approvals and Certifications

Tested in accordance with ISO 12944-6, high expected durability in corrosivity category C5-I

Application Methods

Spray: Use airless spray

Brush: Recommended for small areas. Take care to meet the required film thickness

Storage and health considerations of Jotun Barrier 80

Here at Ultrimax Coatings, we recommend that all users store their Jotun Barrier 80 inline with the national regulations. Regulations include keeping the product away from heat and ignition sources, and storing the pots in well ventilated, cool and dry areas. Remember to always keep the lid of the container tightly closed.

Ideally this product should be used by professionals only, or under close supervision. We recommend you always wear the correct safety gear and PPE when mixing, stirring and applying this product.

Other tips to follow include:

- Always use the product under well ventilated conditions
- Do not inhale any mist from the spray
- Avoid skin contact and use soap and water (or a suitable cleanser) if spillage on the skin occurs
