Fire resistant paints:
Fire retardant paints and lacquers are essential coatings for timber cladding and paneling in areas that are visited by members of the public for safety and fire resistance. Fire rated paints and lacquers can be the difference between surviving a fire or not being able to safely evacuate as these products are designed to delay a fire spreading through a building.
Ultrimax Coatings stock a range of fire retardant paint for wood including the Bolloms White Emulsion and the Sayerlack White Primer and Topcoat paint system. The topcoat is available in any colour, please ask our sales team for more information.
Our fireproof range also includes clear varnishes and lacquers including the Bolloms Intulac which is upgrades any timber to Class 0 fire protection and also Sayerlack basecoat and topcoat which upgrades to Class 1 and maintains Class 0 fire rating.
Fire retardant paints and lacquers stop fire and flames spreading over a surface. They can be applied to ceilings, walls, masonry, timber and plaster and you can get a Class 1 or Class 0 fire rating.
Intumescent paints change and expand when exposed to fire which makes an insulating barrier protecting the substrate underneath.
We can provide a Certificate of Supply for any fire retardant wood paint or intumescent coating. This Certificate states the amount of product used on the job, the applicator details, and the site address where the product is to be situated.

If a fire breaks out on your premises, you want to know you’ve got the best defences in place. Sayerlack polyurethane fire retardant lacquer can help you protect crucial areas of your site which could exacerbate the spread of fire, such as entry points and wall coverings. It can also help you meet health and safety standards.
When used alongside a recommended basecoat, this lacquer slows down the rate at which fire spreads, giving class 1 fire resistance that could provide enough time for staff, customers and residents to escape unharmed. Because the topcoat dries matt and clear, it won’t interfere with your décor and is also scratch resistant.
For use on:
Sayerlack polyurethane fire retardant lacquer is designed for use on flat surfaces and panels, such as wooden furniture, doors and turned parts. In order to ensure effectiveness, it should not be used on veneers that have been adhered using thermoplastic resins. Panels with a cellular or laminate makeup are also not suited to Sayerlack polyurethane fire retardant lacquer, or cavities which contain mixed fibres.
How to use:
First apply two basecoats of TU0022/13 (mixed with hardener) with a two-hour interval after each coat. Sayerlack polyurethane fire retardant lacquer can then be applied as a single topcoat. To prepare the lacquer, mix a ratio of 100g lacquer to 50g TH0333/00 hardener, ensuring all sediment is well incorporated before it is sprayed onto surfaces.
